The Wow tulip will become your love at first sight. This variety will enchant you with the shape of the double flowers and the multi-shade colouring. It will expose its numerous petal layers like a bird of paradise ruffles its feathers and gains more and more popularity among the tulip lovers. The erect, strong stem framed with the light, almost lime green leaves is crowned with one huge flower. The outer petals combine white with green with clearly visible stripes, whose colours fade towards the edges. Nearing the middle of the flower various shades of purple come into play. The colouring gets darker with every layer and turn purple-crimson. The Wow variety is so rich and colourful that it really creates a striking effect. You can admire these flower rarities late in spring. They are worth planting on the showcase spots in the garden, in company of the less impressive bulb plants and other perennials. They look great accompanied by the light colours or at the background of a wall, fence or hedge. The fully developed Wow tulips grow 40 - 45 cm tall. They provide excellent material for cut flowers, hence bouquets and flower arrangements.

The requirements of tulips in regard to growing conditions are rather low. You only need to follow some simple rules in order for the plants to pay you back with marvellous flowers. The bulbs should be planted in autumn. Choose a sunny or partially shady site with a fertile, well cultivated, not too moist soil. It would be recommended to find a site that is sheltered from wind and the heavy rain. The other care measures include removing the wilted flowers, weeding and watering during drought periods. Tulips thrive in Central European climate and do not require excavation each year. Digging the bulbs out every 3 to 4 years would be enough. That way you can ensure that the plants grow healthy and produce large flowers. Despite their high resistance to frost, we recommend to cover the plantings with mulch, dried leaves or conifer twigs.
